Acrylic on Canvas

I most often use "Open Acyrlics", which offer a slower drying time, while remaining easy and safe to use.

Green Heron
A green heron, painted free-hand, using my photos as inextact references.

I am happy with the balance between realism and impressionism, and don't want to upset that balance by working on it further, yet I would also like to add more details to it for it to feel more complete.

Unfinished Rabbit
A rabbit in a field, facing the passage of time.

Not intended to resemble Watership Down, but has turned out with a similar feel, which is alright by me since it's a favourite film of mine, and my dad's favourite book

An unfinished piece.

Cat Planet
A childish depicion of cats burning trees on their icy home planet.

This was actually created at a painting event, but I may not have followed instructions precisely.

Cherry Tree
This is one of my earliest paintings; a simple Cherry Blossom painting, inspired by Shenmue.
It feels wild but relaxing.

Great Wall
A Shenmue inspired commission of a setting/rising sun at The Great Wall of China.
Though the perspective is distorted at the front of the wall, I am pleased with the textures, colours, and general appearance.

Rocky Path
(Rocky Area)
A naive, ethereal landscape inspired by "Rocky Area" in Shenmue II. The in-game location is Guilin, Guangxi, though I also referred to Wulingyuan, Hunan.

I found this to be a challenging piece. It lacks a fully finished look, but has the right mystical appeal.

Shenmue

You may have noticed several paintings have been inspired by Shenmue, here is a Wikipedia page to help explain what it is.

These Shenmue themed pieces were commissions or gifts for my friend, Bryan; a huge fan and supporter of the Shenmue series.
